Second race of the season and final chance to test set ups before Le Mans.
Audi not to appeal
Audi has chosen not to appeal against its exclusion from last weekend’s opening round of the World Endurance Championship.
The #7 Audi R18 e-tron quattro driven by Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer and Marcel Fassler had its victory in the Silverstone 6 Hours on Sunday taken away after its skid block had been found to be worn beyond the permitted limit in post-race scrutineering.
Audi Sport boss Wolfgang Ullrich said in a statement: “It it is our job to avoid increased wear – we accept this responsibility.
“We have made our decision in the interest of the sport and hope that the eight remaining world championship rounds will be similarly thrilling as the season opener.”
The wear on the front of the skid block was attributed, according to Audi’s statement, to “unexpectedly heavy bouncing” of the car.

Silverstone 6 Hours
So that’s it. The first WEC race of the season took place last weekend. It was full of drama before the race, during the race and after the race.
Before the race testing had to be stopped due to the bad weather and snow sticking to the track. Saw the following comment on a blog which made me laugh and in particular the one about the Aston Martin
Well here we are at Silverstone for the start of the WEC season and it’s snowing, yes snowing. It’s cold enough to freeze your wheel nuts off.
Just heard that all qualifying has been stopped because it is starting to settle. The Aston Martin team are protesting the stoppage because they are the only team with a set of outrider Skis left over from the Bond movie. Ferrari team manager is unhappy because the cold has made the pasta to aldente. And the American Ford team say that “If this was the States they would be prepared with snow ploughs and jet blowers. “
Still being Brits me and my Wife ventured out for a taste of the white stuff with the other crazy English people and have now retired to the motorhome for a traditional English fry up and a hot cuppa tea!
Porsche is working on a solution for such cases
During the race, plenty of action including this accident between 2 Porsches
After the race, the winning Audi was disqualified due to a technical issue during the after race scrutinising. Everybody has been moved up 1 place meaning the Porsche came 1st.
However Audi has appealed. Final decision is not known yet. The temporary results are as follows:
