Just had confirmation that Andreas and Franck will not be coming after all. So it is still the 7 Samurais.
Before I go on to race related items, it would appear that we can expect 2 more people to join us in June.
- Franck – My son in law
- Andreas – His neighbour and friend
It is not yet 100% confirmed as they have to organise their flights or car drive. In any case, it is no problem for the gite which can hold up to 10 people. The more the merrier. And of course they are rookies…
This weekend saw the Prologue of the WEC (World Endurance Championship). These are the cars taking part in the full championship for 2016 and of course Le Mans itself. Of course there are many more cars in Le Mans.
The big boys unveiled the 2016 cars and the test results although dominated by Porsche saw a very strong return from Toyota after their miserable 2015 season. At this stage I need to remind you that Toyota won the 2014 championship although they did not win Le Mans.
It is very difficult to judge what 0.8 second gap between the Porsche in first place and the Toyota in third would mean in Le Mans. There are too many factors involved: consumption, downforce set up etc.
We will find out more in the first 2 races starting with Silverstone in less than 3 weeks followed by Spa which is traditionally the final test for the cars set ups.
I might make to Spa this year. I went 3 years ago and had a great time.
Anyway, these are the latest news from my side.
